I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!

Why hello there...yes it's been a while. But here I am, back again. Last semester, being my first full-time semester since fresh out of high school, kind of kicked my butt. Having to juggle a full-time school schedule with going into the office every day was just killing my energy and taking loads of my time. I sure don't want to do that again this semester! Luckily, I've worked things out so that I can reduce my work hours even further so that I can put a greater focus on my school work. That also means that I will have a little more free time, so I'm going to put some of that extra focus back into this blog, where it's been missing! Yay for getting back on track. :)

Have A Walking through the Woods Day

If there's one thing that I enjoy about getting to take my outfit shots outside, it's actually getting to be outside for a bit. This is one of my absolute favorite times of year to be outside because the weather is so enjoyable and the scenery is equally so. If I didn't stop off at a park to take my photos, I wouldn't have an excuse or reason to have a chance to walk through the woods, even if its just for a few minutes.

When I put this outfit together, I knew I wanted to wear the cropped cardi. So my options were limited to the type of bottom that would work with the cropped top. An a-line skirt definitely works well, creating a nice seamless silhouette. It was easy enough to layer a brown lace cami beneath the cardi. And with a hint of blue in the cardi, I had to pull out the blue stockings. This look just wouldn't have felt like me as much if I paired some brown or tan tights instead. I love how the brown t-strap wedges look against the electric blue. :)

Have A Comfort Clothing Day

I love comfort food. Mac n cheese, chicken and waffles, pork bbq, chocolate chip cookies...oh the list goes on. But if there's one thing I love more than comfort food, it's comfort clothing. Probably because I look better in comfort clothing than I do after vegging out on some comfort food.

With all the stress and craziness of last week, I was definitely in the mood for some comfort clothing. Start with some nice, warm cotton layers, add some cozy leggings and finish it with some slouchy cowboy boots. Talk about comfortable!!

Have A Black and White and Red All Over Day

Ay dios mio! This month has surely run away from me. I can't believe it's already the 19th! Last week was another crazy week guys, as it was mid-term week. I only had 2 exams to take since I'd already taken the other 2 previously. However, in my sewing class we had to turn in our construction notebook, which is basically a portfolio of the stitches and seams we have learned. It took me forever to complete because I redid some of my stitches so many times! Luckily I got an A on it when all was said and done. :)

Another crazy yet FABULOUS thing I did last week was volunteer at an event for Fashion Club. I signed up to volunteer at a fundraising gala in DC, with no idea that it would include a runway fashion show with *actual couture* clothing!!! The designer we worked with was Caroline Seikaly and her pieces were literally to die for!! We ended up working with 2 models each and being responsible for getting them dressed and undressed and in queue. Boy was it hectic! Within 15 minutes I had to help 2 models dress and undress into a total of 7 outfits. But it was an amazing experience and I feel so fortunate for having the opportunity!

The day I wore this, I was going out for some drinks with the BF and some friends after work. With that in mind, I knew I wanted a cute cocktail look, so naturally a cocktail dress seemed most appropriate. But since I was going to work and school also, I wanted to play down some of the sexiness of the dress by adding the oversized cardi. I like the ripped, unfinished look of the cardi against the zebra stripes, making for a nice textural effect. I also like the contrast of lengths, with the cardi longer than the dress in the front (the back of the cardi actually comes up a bit but it is not seen in the photos). There's just something I love so much about the color red with neutrals and this outfit is no exception. The pops of red are subtle - the headband, the necklace and the shoes - but it pulls the looks together better than if I had chosen neutral toned accessories instead.

Have A Bright and Successful Day

Thursday was a good day for me, as I have mentioned. After starting my morning off on the perfect note by learning of my successful grades in my Textiles class, I was in a stellar mood. The sun was shining bright and I felt like I could tackle anything. I think it was fitting that my outfit seemed to match my mood and the day perfectly well.

I actually had this outfit queued up for some time now. I wore it back in May (I think?) but never did get a photo of it, not even for my own records. But I kept all the pieces hung together in my closet, just waiting for the right day to break it out again. Thursday was just that day. The bright colors matched how awesome I felt. I just love the visual effect of this outfit. The outfit is very layered, I actually layered a skirt over a dress, then, obviously, layered a cami over and some tights beneath it all. Now this is definitely one of my faves that I could live in.

Have A Torn Between Looks and Comfort Day

Do you ever had a piece of clothing that you love the look of but not the feel? Perhaps something that it not 100% comfortable to wear all day but looks so darn cute, especially in photos? Well this tunic is my perfect example. I love the print and the color and the beaded neckline is sweet (if not annoying when the beads start coming off) but the cut it just a little off. I was able to wear it all day but as soon as I got out of class, I knew I was ready to change out of it. I don't want to give it away though because I just love the fabric so much. Now that I'm gaining the knowledge and experience to sew, I think I may figure out a way to repurpose this tunic.

As I said though, the tunic looks great, especially in these outfit shots! If the comfort was there, I would put this outfit in my list of faves that I could live it. Oh well, at least it can go in the list of faves that I love to look at.

Have A Feeling Sassy Day

Fall has certainly made its presence felt this past week! While Monday was a little too much for me with the abnormally cold temps and wet misty weather, Tuesday started to even out a bit. I love when there is a crisp chill in the air! All Summer I've been thinking of this sweater, so now that the weather is perfect sweater weather I happily took the opportunity to wear it.

I was feeling a little sassy on Tuesday, I must admit. I was set on wearing the sweater and finally settled on this pale pink tee and the black tulle skirt. Though all three pieces have some visual texture, they are solid colors. So I wanted to play around with some more obvious and bolder textures with my legwear. Something just told me to pair these skull print heels with the outfit to complete the look. Actually, I take that back, the last thing to complete my sassified look was my hair. I haven't used hair chopsticks in years, but that morning I felt like giving them a go. Don't get used to the look though! I love the effect, but boy is it hard to achieve, especially twice (one on each side, best if they look as symmetrical as possible).
